If you google for: Descent second edition quest book pdf you'll find it available for download (not from FFG). Here's one such link: ( EDIT: The link is now dead.) Be aware that there were a number of corrections to the original campaign in the official Descent FAQ, so check that out as well. One of the quests in particular was nearly unplayable without the corrections, as I recall. The errors were probably one reason FFG just decided to print a new version of the base game, which also includes corrections on other components, including the rulebook.
I just bought Descent and when I looked into it it doesn't have the Quest Book that I've seen other versions to have. Instead it has Heirs of Blood campaign. Is there a way to buy just the Quest Book for future games?
The original print runs had The Shadow Rune campaign, and Heirs of Blood was released later as a separate campaign. Later FFG decided that Heirs was a vastly superior campaign, and that it should be the default starting campaign, including it in newer prints of the core game, instead of The Shadow Rune. This is how your copy (like mine) has Heirs of Blood. Unfortunately, FFG have not released The Shadow Rune in any other way since, so there is no way to get it unless you can find someone willing to sell you their copy. From what I've heard though, you're better off buying one of the bigger expansions and using the campaign for that if you want another campaign to play.
If you cannot find the quest book as PDF (FFG does not like it being made available!) there is alternative ways to test out the game. The quest vault namely, which has a wealth of community-designed scenarios, each available for download. Yea, I looked there, but I really want to do the tutorial for the first try. I am having trouble finding the pieces for a lot of the ones I found on Quest Vault and making sense of some of their custom rules/triggers. I figured the tutorial quest would be the way to go. I also didn't see any campaigns in the vault.or maybe I dunno how to look.
I want to understand the whole prelude, interlude, etc. If you cannot find the quest book as PDF (FFG does not like it being made available!) there is alternative ways to test out the game. There is not a 'search by campaign' feature in the vault. It is one of those things they talked about adding but never got around to.
If you search by author 'Zaltyre' I've labelled mine by 3 letter acronyms.
